Our suggestion: If your modem is centrally placed and in such a way that everyone is able to use the Wi-Fi close to the modem, then 5 GHz would be the right setting for you. This frequency is good for you especially when you have to perform high-bandwidth activities like gaming, streaming, etc., in which case you should sit as close to the router as possible or directly connect your system with an Ethernet table. However, if you move around a lot or cannot be close to the modem for long periods, 2.4 GHz is the better option for you.

Connect your device to the internet and open a web browser. Enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar and type in your username and password. Select the wireless setup from the main menu. After that, select 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz in the left sidebar and then click on radio setup. Select a channel from 1 to 11. Choose a wireless power level from 10% to 100% and then select the right 802.11 mode. Lastly, click apply and save the changes.
If you want a bigger coverage area for your devices and can cut down on the speed, use 2.4 GHz. Otherwise, if you can sacrifice on the coverage area and not on speed, 5 GHz would be better for you. The 5 GHz frequency can also cut through any interference to maximize the network performance.
You can only use both Wi-Fi channels at the same time if you have a dual-band router and if your wireless devices support both bands. If one of these conditions is not true, then you won’t be able to use both and will have to choose one.
You will have to select 5 GHz in the left sidebar of the wireless setup on the main menu. To get to the main menu, you will have to type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar of your web browser. Next, you will enter your username and password and you will be redirected to the main menu.
