What is the Xfinity xFi Complete Tech Upgrade Program?

If you are an Xfinity user and have the xFi Complete, you are eligible for the Tech Upgrade Program. According to this program, new and existing customers with xFi Complete get a free upgrade after three years. This means that whatever gateway device you started with, Xfinity will replace it with a newer version in three years.

However, the Tech Upgrade Program does come with its terms and conditions, eligibility criteria, and more. Here are some of the most important things you ought to know.

Terms & Conditions of the Program

The Xfinity Tech Upgrade Program is offered solely by Comcast Xfinity and provides eligible Xfinity Internet customers with some technology upgrades on their leased Xfinity Gateway equipment. Do bear in mind that upgrades made through this program are different from the ones Xfinity does for other reasons. Reasons for other upgrades may include a device that is not able to support Xfinity internet speeds, moving to a new location, or equipment still under warranty that needs replacement.

Comcast alone may alter, limit, or modify, the terms and conditions of this Program. It may also suspend or terminate the Program entirely at any given time, with or without prior notice.

Eligibility Criteria

Of course, like all other reward and loyalty programs, this too has eligibility criteria that have to be met. The criteria that you are expected to fulfill before you can qualify for the Tech Upgrade Program are as follows.

  1. Be a new or existing Xfinity internet customer with a residential post-pay plan. The current account with Xfinity should be in good standing. Do remember that customers of Xfinity Internet Essentials using xFi Complete do not qualify for this program.
  2. At least 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of the United States.
  3. Lease an Xfinity gateway device.
  4. Maintain the qualifying service (any internet plan) and continue leasing the Xfinity Gateway device constantly for three years after activating the service.

This Program only covers one Gateway device under each residential Xfinity account and is limited to the primary account holder. Customers who get Xfinity services through similar accounts and agreements under which they are paid by a third party are not eligible to participate in this Program. Of course, if those customers establish individually billed accounts and meet the aforementioned eligibility criteria they can also choose to opt for the program.

Gateway Upgrade

Since the Program was launched last year, here is how the eligibility goes. For existing customers who use the xFi Complete, the three-year period began on March 8, 2022. For customers who added the xFi Complete to their service after March 8, 2022, the date of the addition counts as the first day of your three-year period.

Comcast will let you know when an equipment upgrade is available for your account. To receive the upgrade, you must contact Comcast and request them to arrange an upgrade for you. You can do this through the Xfinity App or visit their customer care center.

The Tech Upgrade would be limited to a more recent Gateway leased by Comcast. However, that does not mean it would be the most advanced and recently launched Xfinity equipment. The upgrade will happen depending on several factors including supported speeds and more. If you are eligible for an upgrade but are using Xfinity’s most advanced Gateway you will not be upgraded until a newer version is available.

This Program is only limited to equipment upgrades and cannot be substituted for cash or other equivalents.
