AT&T fiber hasn’t reached your neighborhood yet? You can turn that frown upside down because here’s the next best thing – AT&T Internet AirSM!

You can finally upgrade from DSL or stop relying on your mobile network for day-to-day online activities. AT&T knows that fast and reliable internet is a necessity, no matter where you reside. The company has rolled out Internet Air to accommodate users who can’t access their fiber services right now.

What is AT&T Internet Air?

Internet Air is AT&T's fixed wireless internet service, which uses cutting-edge 5G technology to deliver a home internet connection over its wireless network. 5G home internet has been in the highlights of advanced internet technology for some time, and it has made quite the waves owing to its potential.

Some of the big names in the internet industry like T-Mobile and Verizon took the lead in the 5G venture, so it’s no surprise that AT&T finally joined the ranks.

AT&T’s Internet Air is bigger and better than its traditional fixed wireless service. Customers no longer need a mounted receiver on their property to achieve a direct line of sight with a cellular tower. Moreover, better speed and coverage are part of the deal.

How Does AT&T Internet Air Work?

Your AT&T Internet Air Device contains a Wi-Fi® gateway that receives signals from the nearest 5G tower. The radio waves from the tower are converted to wireless internet in your home.

How Fast Is AT&T Internet Air?

AT&T Internet Air is offering download speeds ranging from 75 to 225 Mbps; upload speeds are between 10 to 30 Mbps.

The mentioned speeds may not sound like much, but let us remind you that the service is meant to provide a superior alternative to DSL.

A DSL connection can provide up to 100 Mbps download speed, but the average is about 30 Mbps only. While Internet Air cannot compete with AT&T Fiber in terms of speed, it is a decent internet option for rural areas.

How to Set Up AT&T Internet Air?

Before you begin setting up your wireless connection, register for the AT&T Internet Air service on their official website. Once you have successfully registered, it’s as simple as plug and play.

Here’s what you get in the box:

  • AT&T All-Fi HubTM
  • Power Supply

Set up your Internet Air in six easy steps:

1. Download the App

Scan the QR code on the box to download AT&T’s Smart Home Manager app on your smartphone. You can also download it directly from your phone’s app store.

2. Sign In

Sign in to the app if you’ve already registered for the service. If not, set up the device first and scan the QR code at its base when you get the prompt.

3. Set up & Activate

When you see the “Let’s begin your AT&T Internet Air setup” screen, select the “Get Started” option. Guidelines will appear to help you set up the All-Fi HubTM.

4. Position Your Device

Align towards the closest 4G/5G tower by tapping on the “Help me find this direction” option. Position your device accordingly.

5. Test Signal

Plug in the device and test signal quality in different spots, tallying with prompts displayed in the app.

6. Connect

Get your Wi-Fi network name and password from the app to connect your devices – you’re good to go!

Check your Signal Status on the All-Fi HubTM display:

Green = Excellent

(you’re all set)

Yellow = Okay

(slight adjustment may improve signal)

Red = Poor

(Relocate your device for a better signal)

FAQs

No, you cannot use Internet Air on the go. It is a fixed wireless internet service designed to function within a premise. You may change its placement around the house for a better signal, but taking it to other locations is not allowed.

Internet Air speeds and average latency are acceptable for light gaming and streaming. However, you may face problems during peak usage times because of network congestion.

Your AT&T Internet Air device can support up to 20 devices simultaneously.
