Founded in 2005, MetroNet delivers cutting-edge fiber optic telecom services in 8 states. Albeit MetroNet network coverage is rather limited, it poses tough competition for big names in the ISP industry—given its concentrated focus on providing a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband service at competitive prices. Besides fiber optic broadband, MetroNet also offers Fiber TV and Fiber Phone in residential neighborhoods across its service locations.
Headquartered in Evansville, Indiana, MetroNet rightly takes pride in connecting nearly 100 communities in its network fold via pure fiber optic broadband. The provider has been long committed to empowering the communities it serves via advanced telecom services—with an aim to deliver an experience similar to or better than what is afforded to large metropolises.
If you are after powerful fiber internet speed, no long-term contract, and unlimited data in the Midwest, MetroNet Internet is definitely worth a shot.
MetroNet stands out among others in the industry because of its focus on delivery of a pure fiber optic broadband service. While others have upgraded their existing networks—Copper or Coaxial—and now provide DSL or Cable broadband with “Fiber in the Loop”, MetroNet has been engaged in getting the full power of fiber optic internet to your door step. Fiber-to-the-Home connection from the provider means, data is not transferred via copper or coaxial lines for any part of its journey. The signal is transmitted via fiber optic lines all the way straight to your home.
The result is you experience fast speeds with an amazing consistency. You are not likely to suffer from network congestion or slow downs at peak traffic times. And there is plenty of bandwidth for everyone to connect wireless devices via MetroNet fiber internet & WholeHome WiFi!
With the ability to deliver speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gigabit via a FTTH connection, MetroNet is ideal for small to large families with multiple connected devices. Adults can work from home with ease. Young ones can attend online school without a glitch. While other activities such as online banking & shopping, streaming, gaming and video chatting all get done in a breeze. There no waiting around with MetroNet Fiber—your experience is defined by the Fiber Advantage—and you enjoy reliable fast speed and ultra-low latency at competitive prices.
Albeit, MetroNet puts you online via a pure fiber optic connection, the good news is MetroNet Fiber plans start from $49.95 per month. You can choose from among 4 plans with speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gigabit. All 4 deliver fast and consistent symmetrical speeds with no data caps, and get you a FREE WiFi router.

As we said, MetroNet does not charge you an additional rental fee for the wireless router—rather the wireless device comes included in the service plan. As for the modem, there is none as this is a pure fiber optic connection which works via an Optical Network Terminal (ONT)—usually affixed to a wall. MetroNet does allow you to use your own wireless router, but you don’t really save with the BYOD option. Because the wireless router is anyway included in the purchase price of your plan.
This means, as for the internet equipment, there are no monthly rental fees unless you choose to add WholeHome WiFi on top of your service plan—which as we said earlier costs $9.95/month.
There is one thing you may not notice with other ISPs. And that is the “Technology Fee” of $9.95 which is applicable to all MetroNet Fiber plans. By standard norms this is an odd fee, but MetroNet says this mandatory flat monthly charge covers a service call & tech fee, broken or damaged MetroNet equipment or wiring inside or outside your house. And, if you look at it, it does make sense. Albeit skeptics say this is how MetroNet compensates for not charging an equipment rental.
MetroNet does not have a mandatory contract obligation for you to fulfill—meaning after the end of your special promo offer you pay month-to-month at the then prevailing standard rate. And, you don’t get hit by an Early Termination Fee if for some reason you discontinue the service. This makes it an ideal choice for renters and students in particular.
Keep an eye on the fine print though. Some MetroNet offers come with only a 6-month promo term, after which you pay the standard rate. While others give subscribers a chance to benefit from a 2-year Price Lock Guarantee. So, look carefully and choose wisely!
MetroNet is a comparatively small service provider serving 8 states. Currently MetroNet Fiber is available to about 2 million people, but the provider is aggressively engaged in surveying more markets to expand into. Tallahassee, Florida is one such recent addition to the MetroNet service locations.

If your household needs dictate that you have the best available broadband type in the market, and you are located in any of the above Midwestern states, call MetroNet Customer Service 1-844-343-1143 to check MetroNet Internet availability in your area. There is little reason to go for speeds delivered over hybrid copper or coaxial cable networks, when you can have MetroNet fiber optic lines running straight to your home. You don’t share the connection with your neighbor, and you have plenty of speed and data at your disposal.
It is no longer as difficult to find a fiber optic internet connection if you are not in search for the 100% pure FTTH version. Because there are quite a few hybrid internet service types on offer in the market. If however, you are looking for the full fiber advantage, MetroNet does it the best, because that is all it does—FIBER!
